I recently had the opportunity to head to Savannah, GA to second shoot a wedding with the fabulous Hope Cox of Daisy Mae Photography. Weddings are always special, but this one was even more so. Amy, the bride, is one of Hope’s longtime friends. Add an amazing groom, Jeremy, and you’ve got the stuff dreams are made .
The wedding was held at the Mighty Eighth Air Force Museum, a museum honoring the men and women of the Eighth Air Force from WWII and beyond. Featured are full scale aircrafts, memorial gardens, and a truly fabulous chapel, the Chapel of the Fallen Eagles.
Amy’s son Alex escorted her down the aisle.

The chapel was amazingly beautiful with elaborately detailed stain glass windows.

The ceremony was meaningful and sweet, ending with just the right touch—the kiss!

After the ceremony, it was off to the gardens for some informal photos. These were some of my favorite from the day.

In the meantime, the guests headed to the reception. Amy and Jeremy had some amazing details planned. One of my favorites was their reception registry. Rather than a typical book you sign, they had a beautifully framed print of the trunk of a tree. Guests signed their names to green dots and attached them to the print—forming the “leaves” of the tree. What an awesome keepsake!

Another was their candy bar. Guests filled monogrammed bags with an assortment of goodies to snack on while waiting for the bride and groom to arrive. Attention to detail? Notice the bottom of the Hershey Kisses!

With all the WWII memorabilia around, Hope and I couldn’t resist doing a few “vintage” inspired shots. Amy and Jeremy….

Amy’s son Alex couldn’t resist getting in on the action too. He was a total ham for the camera. He later talked me into giving him a chance to be the “photographer” and I have to say he did a really great job! I think that boy’s got promise!
